Housekeeping Supervisor
"I grew up and lived in El Salvador. In 2009 my family and I moved to the U.S. where I started working in hospitality at a property in Irving, Texas. I worked the overnight shift and then transferred to mornings so I could learn a little more about the Rooms operations. A year later I met my former supervisor, who recommended me to Benchmark. In 2012 I started with Benchmark as a Lobby Attendant and 6 months later I was promoted to Floor Care Tech. It was a good year because I received the Employee of the Month award. The following year in 2013, I won an award that made a big impact on my life called the Best of the Best award. In 2014, I had the opportunity to be a Peer Trainer for my department and in 2015, I became a Training Orientation Facilitator. This allowed me to be closer to the new employee onboarding experience. As the years passed and I started new positions, I was able to be a part of different experiences and opportunities to grow with this company. In 2019 I became a Housekeeping Supervisor! This is just a summary of my experiences with Benchmark. I hope to see you here soon with us, as part of our Benchmark family. I’m from El Salvador and we speak Spanish; I would like to make a brief summary of all I said in Spanish.
10 años atras, vivia en El Salvador. Cuando comence a trabajar en hoteleria lo comece haciendo de noche en Irving, Texas. Despues de trabajar casi por un año, una de mis ex-supervisoras me recomendo a Benchmark. Fue entonces que comence a trabajar como Attendiente del Lobby. Seis meses despues , obtube una nueva posicion. Ese año fue de los mejores. Fui nominado como empleado del mes y el siguiente ano obtube la oportunidad de ganarme un premio que hizo un gran impacto en mi vida, le llamamos el Mejor de los Mejores. Por el momento, soy supervisor en Housekeeping. En todas las otras pociones que tube, aprendi mucho y esas mismas experiencias me han ayudado a crecer en esta compañia. Espero verlos muy pronto como los nuevos miembros de nuestra famila de Benchmark.”

"My journey began with Benchmark in Summer of 2013. I was a senior at the University of North Texas earning my Hospitalist Management Degree in hopes of becoming a planner of some kind in my future. The final school credit to achieve my degree was to complete a 6-week internship program focusing in an area of hospitality. In preparation, our school provided a Hospitality endorsed career fair in which I found Benchmark Hospitality.
To this day, I remember the recruiter I spoke to. She welcomed me with such generosity and called me by my first name throughout our conversation. The unique profile of Benchmark Hospitality at Deloitte University immediately caught my attention. Amazing employee benefits, enriched company culture, no occupancy weekends… and several open Internship opportunities with potential for full-time hire. I immediately thought to myself, ‘sign me up!’ We exchanged information and I anxiously awaited a call in the following week. Fast forward a panel interview with Director level employers, I eared a seat as the first ever Conference Services Intern at Deloitte University.
My internship program consisted of rotations throughout each department within the Conference Services division; Guest Services, Planning, Setup, Concierge. While I was completing my rotations, a position became available full-time in Guest Services. I applied and soon gained permanent employment the Benchmark family. Six years and seven promotions later, I am now a senior leader for Benchmark Hospitality. My company has valued my strengths, built upon my weaknesses and help shape me into the leader and manager I am today.
Benchmark Hospitality has provided me with the tools and trainings to reach my maximum potential. Our core principles and Be the Difference Culture is one that cannot be compared. At Benchmark, you truly feel like family and not just an average employee. I have gained lifelong friends and built genuine connections that will carry throughout my career."

“I was referred to Benchmark from another employee right after I graduated from high school. Not knowing my career path, I started in the kitchen as a dishwasher. While in the kitchen, I became interested in learning more about cooking and culinary. I eventually was promoted to Cook in the kitchen, and then after several years as a cook, I decided to change career paths and moved into maintenance.
Now, I have been working with Benchmark for almost 7 years, and it has been a nonstop whirlwind of learning and experience. It is extraordinarily easy to find someone willing to teach me something new. In fact, when I started in the kitchen, and then moved into the maintenance department, I knew absolutely nothing about either field, but with each move there was always plenty of helpful people willing to show me the path to increasing my knowledge in just about anything I wanted or needed to know. On top of the communal experience exchange, I have also learned much from off-property training classes that my departments have sent me to such as woodworking and HVAC classes. I am also currently attending college for classes pertaining to my field, which is ultimately being paid for through the extremely considerable tuition reimbursement program offered by Benchmark.
Besides doing my normal job duties and going to school, I have had the opportunity to participate in other activities such as being a Peer Trainer, serving on Culture Committee and Safety Committee. All in all, these past 7 years has been a ceaseless maturing of new skills, and improvements to old skills.”
Payroll/General Cashier
"I started my career with Benchmark as a Bell Attendant in 2011. My current role within the organization is Payroll/General Cashier. Through the years, I have experienced the positions of Bell Captain, Group Rooms Coordinator, Front Office Supervisor, Manager on Duty, Housekeeping Manager and Laundry Manager. Each role brought a new challenge and a new opportunity to grow and develop within the organization.
Benchmark is committed to employee recognition and appreciation.
